Artwork Chosen for 20th Annual Colorado Mountain Winefest in Palisade, Colo.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (March 15, 2011) – The artwork commemorating the 20th Annual Colorado Mountain Winefest in Palisade, Colo., (Sept. 15-18, 2011) has been chosen. Artist Patricia Carroll of Woodland Park, Colo., won the contest with her oil on canvas piece “Colorado Nectar.”
The art competing to represent the 20th Annual Colorado Mountain Winefest was juried and judged. Colorado Mountain Winefest purchased “Colorado Nectar” and will use the piece for the event’s marketing materials, public relations, advertising, shirts, hats, posters and more.
“We had a number of brilliant entries this year,” Colorado Mountain Winefest Executive Director Sarah Catlin said. “We are so happy with Patricia’s work and we’re excited to use the piece to commemorate our 20th year.”
Artist Patricia Carroll said, “Being selected as the award winner is an amazing blessing since my dream is to support myself selling my art and this honor is the first step to realizing that goal.”
In describing her painting, Carroll said, “There is nothing more beautiful than the morning sun creeping over the rows of grape vines or the warm color of their leaves in autumn. The contest allowed me to show the translucence of the glass and wine, the solidity of the barrel, the plumpness of the grapes and the light on the vineyard. Adding the logo for the festival helped connect the image to Colorado’s incredible wine industry.”
Art that was entered into the contest is available for purchase at the Blue Pig Gallery in Palisade, Colo., through March 11.
About the Artist
Patricia Carroll was raised in southern California, graduating from California State University Long Beach with a BFA degree in Interior Design. She has worked in watercolor and acrylics but prefers oil on canvas. She has an enthusiasm for textures both with the paint application and visually with color. Patricia is an award-winning artist with paintings sold through galleries in Scottsdale and Sedona, Ariz., and Woodland Park, Colo., and commissioned pieces held in public and private collections around the country.
